Every year Georgia Swimming calls upon one athlete in the state to represent the thousands of swimmers in Georgia. The individual is one who is respected by his or her peers for his or her outstanding leadership qualities or potential for such qualities. They have knowledge about the sport of swimming and can make decisions based on what is best for the advancement of Georgia swimmers. The highly respected position is called the GEORGIA SWIMMING JUNIOR ATHLETE REPRESENTATIVE.
Roles of the Junior Rep:
+ Serve in unison with the Senior Rep to better Georgia Swimming and the experience of the swimmers in the LSC.
+ Attend all LSC (local swim committee) meetings
-Serve on Age Group Committee { deals with things like Age Group State }
-Co-Run the Athletes Committee { deals with anything and everything swimmers would like to see in GA swimming}
-Serve on the Board of Delegates { very important board which has a word in almost all decisions made }
-Serve as an athlete member of the Board of Review { very important board which meets on rare but serious circumstances to help decide disputes within Georgia Swimming }

The voice of the Athletes is easily the most powerful opinion taken into account at LSC and USAS meetings. It is an honor and a TON of fun to hold this position. I guarantee you will meet lots of new people from both Georgia and around the country.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST ENTERING YOUR JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL!
The voting for the position will be taking place at the Senior State meet in 6 weeks. When you get there, there will be a table set up for sign-ups for those wishing to run as Jr. Rep. Each team receives a vote, and votes will be collected on the last day of the meet.
What the interested athletes should do.
1. Write an e-mail to the coaches saying: Your name, a resume, and what you would bring to the position and anything else you may want to add. The coach email addresses are part of this mailing.
2. Talk to coaches, do not be shy.
3. Publicly announce yourself at Senior State, make posters pins etc. Take the time to walk around the pool deck and sell yourself!
