Team Vision
Develop a
competitive swim team that helps parents and the community
develop well rounded young people. Through hard work and
dedication some of our swimmers may achieve greatness in
sport, but all of our swimmers will be great citizens.

History
The Boomers were
founded in May 1991 aboard
Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA. The base is homeport of
the Trident class submarines called "Boomers." The program
was initially called the "Kings Bay Boomers" and participants
were the children of submariners and Dept. of Navy civilian
employees. Rich Gamble, Special Agent with the Naval Criminal
Investigative Service, headed the program as crime prevention
initiative. The program focused on life and family values as
important as swimming competition.
In 1998, the “off
base” county supported swim program dissolved and the Kings
Bay Boomers became the sole program for this small community
of 45,000 residents. The name was changed to the "Camden
County Boomers." Today, the goal to produce a Nobel Prize
winner is still as strong as the goal to produce an Olympian.
The success of the
program has consistently improved, and the Boomers were the
2004 14 and Under Georgia Long Course Division III State
Champions (girls, boys, and combined). Since inception, the
program has been and continues to be about building
self-esteem. Like the Navy’s Trident submarines, Boomers are
quietly achieving success. |
