GA Records Updated, Top 20 Available

8/29 - Two years ago GA swimming switched its meet result database over to USAS's SWIMS database but in so doing lost an easy method to maintain our state records.  Thanks to some number crunching by volunteer parent Burton Eichel of ASL, we have been able to get caught up and should now be able to update the records after each season and the top 20 at the same time as well as late December.

SwimAtlanta Wins AG and SR State Champs, Zone Team Selected

7/28 - SwimAtlanta won the overall title at both the Senior Champs, held this pas t weekend at UGA, and the Age Group champs held two weeks ago at Ga Tech.  Marietta Marlins and Savannah Swim Team won the medium and small teams categories at Age Group State.  Lily Tang and Henry Loong of Marlins broke five state records between them.  Jaclyn Rohal, Haley Durmer and Hayes Burdette-Sapp all broke a state record as well.

Officers Re-elected, SC Schedule set at LSC Spring Meeting

4/16 - The Georgia Swimming Spring meeting was this weekend.  The LSC Chair, Secretary and Senior chair were all reelected.  The SC 07-08 schedule was set.  In addition, the LSC All-Star list was announced.  A link to the list is below.  A representative of each team should copy the members from their team to a file and make any necessary corrections and email it to Gary Theisen ggtheisen@mindspring.com .  All corrections as well as payments for the towels should be made during the two week period after the meeting.

   ASL's Eichols and TWS's Sweeney Named Outstanding Swimmers of the Meet

2/19/07 - Eight individual state records fell this weekend at a very fast Age Group State Champs.  Team winners were SwimAtlanta in the large team category, Marietta Marlins in medium teams and Savannah Swim Team in the small team category.  Gabe Eichel of Augusta Swim League and Carly Sweeney of Tidal Wave accounted for 3 of the records and claimed the Outstanding Swimmer of the meet awards.  The record breakers and high p[oint winners of each age group are listed below.

12/11/06 - Swim Atlanta won the large team division at the Georgia Senior State Champs  at the Georgia Tech Natatorium this past weekend.  The Marietta Marlins took the intermediate teams title while the Brunswick Y won the small teams division.  Kathleen Hersey (SA) and Dillon Connolly (LINS) were named the outstanding swimmers of the meet.  Results can be viewed using the links below.

WEIR BREAKS AMERICAN RECORD!!

Six Georgia Swimmers, Coach Make Pan Pac Team

8/6/06 - SwimAtlanta's Amanda Weir broke the American record en route to taking the gold last night in the 100 free at the US National Championships in Irvine CA.  Her time of 53.58 was well over a half second ahead of the field and over four-tenths faster than the previous record held by Natalie Coughlin. 

The swim also earned Weir a spot on the USA roster for the Pan Pac team that will compete in ten days in Victoria BC Canada.  Five other swimmers with Georgia ties will be joining her on the trip, as well as SwimAtlanta coach Chris Davis who is on the Men's team staff.  SwimAtlanta's Eric Shanteau and Katherine Hersey, Athens Bulldog's Mary Descenza and Kara Lynn Joyce as well as Atlanta native Peter Marshall are also on the team.

SwimAtlanta Wins Long Course Senior State Champs

7/24/06 - SwimAtlanta won the 2006 GA LSC Long Course Senior State Champs at Georgia Tech University this weekend.  SCAT's Lauren Cartwright and SwimAtlanta's Miller Douglas were the Outstanding Swimmers of the meet.  The meet was also the selection meet for next weeks zone champs.

7/17/06- The Age Group State Champs this year was one of the most tightly contested for the top six ever with four teams scoring between 1200 and 1800 points for 3rd-7th.  It was also the selection meet for the GA Zone team.
